CTMM-TraIT makes the Biobank Catalogue available for biomedical studies

The TraIT Biobank Catalogue allows studies to store data about biospecimens that are available for research. It has an intuitive web interface that allows a researcher to quickly make selections based on criteria such as diagnosis, anatomic source or type of specimen and thereby enables an easy discovery of suitable cohorts as well as an easier overview of the status of inclusion of samples within a study.

The catalogue uses the CBM-NL data model to describe biobank samples. This model is an adaptation of the NIH Common Biorepository Model to accommodate more detailed information about samples. It allows studies to describe their collections on a aggregated level as well as on the level of individual records. The model is flexible and allows for extension to cater for the needs of the studies. To support this flexibility the catalogue is based on the MOLGENIS Open Source Software that allows to rapidly build web based database systems and is widely used to build Biobank catalogues in the Netherlands.
