Data integration, sharing, and analysis platform for clinical and translational research

tranSMART is a data integration, sharing, and analysis platform for clinical and translational research. It allow users to search, view, and analyze data through a web interface, thereby allowing easy access to explore such data from multiple domains at a study level.

As a knowledge management platform, it enables scientists to develop and refine research hypotheses by investigating correlations between genetic, phenotypic and clinical data, a.o., and assessing their analytical results in the context of published literature and other work. tranSMART’s capacity to store and integrate data from multiple domains is leveraged by the many tools it connects to (eg. R and Spotfire). More such connections are in active development (eg. Galaxy, OpenClinica).

tranSMART was initially developed by Johnson & Johnson, and released as an open source project in 2012. It has since successfully been deployed in a number of large pharma companies, such as Janssen, Sanofi and Pfizer, and is further developed in numerous publicly funded and public-private consortia, such as IMI eTRIKS, IMI EMIF, IMI Translocation and TraIT.
